about

This is the third official LP by ex-Dominorecordings artist 'tele:funken' (or 'terry:funken' as was the case for one limited edition 10"). Originally released on Static Caravan Records also of Birmingham UK, a cult label run by Geoff Dolman, and released on the 1st January 2018. If you wish to own a CD copy, please write to Geoff at Static Caravan and order a copy. www.staticcaravan.org/item.asp?Ref=326

Rocket Summer was inspired by a selection of short stories by the late great American Sci-Fi writer Ray Bradbury. Track three was also inspired by the now famous space jump by Felix Baumgartner. Track four to time travel. However Rocket Summer is really dedicated to being free and optimistic.

Recorded almost exclusively using Blip Interactive's 'Nanostudio' software, plus a small handful of other iOS-based apps.

Track 10 has been substituted with previously unreleased 'Gingerpuss' which was originally recorded in 2001

Reviews:

"Music that is funny, serious, sharp and witty. An excellent return and let’s hope the next one is around the corner and not light-years away." [Vital Weekly]

"‘Still sky blues’ will simply have you jaws to the floor in fond wonder at its svelte star serenading symmetry, a solar symphony or more over a sleepy headed stasis soundtrack rippled and woozed in lush library lunar lullaby lilts all teasingly traced and dimpled by pulsing half light corteges of cosmic Balearic braids, utterly mesmeric." [the sunday experience]

credits

released August 3, 2022

Credits go to my two daughters for adding both vocals as well as artwork, and my wife Rosie Cuckston for helping write 'Going home now'. My sister-in-law Alison for writing the beautiful poem on track three. And of course everyone who kicked me up the arse and put up with all my bullshit while making this recording. And finally, big shouts to Blip Interactive and the disciples of Nanostudio as well to the most excellent Matthew J. Saunders at 808Hz for doing the mastering.
